Interproximal cleaners are designed to clean larger gaps between your teeth. If brushing and flossing alone does not fully clean in between your teeth, then you’re a good candidate for using interproximal cleaners. Examples of interproximal cleaners include go-between brushes or rubber tips amongst other devices.
Interproximal cleaners are designed for people with large gaps in between their teeth where brushing and flossing alone is not enough. For instance, if you have advanced gum disease, this results in larger gaps between teeth which makes you a good candidate for using interproximal cleaners. If you have extensive dental work, such as multiple crowns, bridges or implants, then you’re also a good candidate for using interproximal cleaners. Keep in mind that some areas trap too much food, in which case you can’t simply rely on an interproximal cleaner and must receive dental treatment such as crowns or braces to close the gaps. If you have gaps that trap too much food, talk to Dr. Jazayeri to see if you’re a good candidate for using interproximal cleaners or if something more serious is happening here.
