What are Invisalign clear aligners?

    Case 1 - Before Invisalign

Clear aligners are thin, plastic trays which sit on top of your teeth and gradually move them to straighten your smile. Invisalign is the most popular and effective of all clear aligner systems. While Invisalign is the most popular and effective clear aligner system, we also offer ClearCorrect as an alternative for those who qualify.

How does Invisalign work?

To start Invisalign treatment, your dentist will take records and photos of your teeth and facial profile. These records are sent to Invisalign where they fabricate a series of clear aligners. Your dentist will deliver these trays to you. You must wear each aligner for one to two weeks at a time as instructed. Each aligner moves your teeth a fraction of a millimeter until your teeth have completely moved into their correct position.

Why go for clear aligners over traditional braces?

Clear aligners like Invisalign are nearly invisible and also very comfortable to wear

Most adults with active lifestyles opt to go for clear aligners like Invisalign over traditional braces. After all, who wants a ton of metal showing in their mouth? Here are some other reasons to go for Invisalign clear aligners over traditional braces:

  • Better aesthetics
  • More comfortable to wear
  • Less painful tooth movement
  • The ability to remove your aligners whenever needed

The biggest advantage of Invisalign clear aligners is they are removable. This means that you can take them in and out so you can continue eating and brushing your teeth. As a result, you can continue enjoying your meals and maintaining proper oral hygiene throughout treatment. However, don’t forget that you must wear your aligners at least 22 hours a day every single day. Otherwise, the aligners won’t be effective in properly moving your teeth into their correct position.

Am I a candidate for Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign is capable of correcting mild-to-moderate dental malocclusions. While most malocclusions can be treated with clear aligners, not everyone case qualifies for clear aligner treatment. Typically, severe malocclusions, openbites and class 3 malocclusions don’t qualify for Invisalign treatment.
